Trashigang Census |
|
Welcome to our website. Besides
improving the look, we have also added a discussion forum to the site, and made it more
interactive so that users can submit views and other content to the site. We hope this will
facilitate those interested in participating in the development of ICT in Bhutan to do so
more constructively.
After the Government approval of the Bhutan ICT Policy and
Strategy(BIPS) in June 2004, the Department of Information and Technology of MoIC has
finalized the major 9th Plan projects and their financing. The development of infrastructure
(Thimphu WAN, Dzongkhags LAN, telecentres) content development (Dzongkha computing,
e-governance) and human resources development continue to be the priority areas occupying
all of us here in the DIT.
The development of ICT units in the 10 ministries,
e-signature, network security and private sector development are other key challenges we
anticipate requiring concerted action during remaining years of the 9th plan. A successful
implementation of these projects and meeting these challenges headlong will poise us to
better exploit ICT for improving governance, improved basic services and deploying ICT as an
industry and for employment generation in this country.
I would like to urge every
member of our staff to keep up the pace of work and help meet our targets and expectations.
