Trashigang is one of amongst ten Dzongkhags where the International Olympic day was celebrated on 18th July 2010; the Olympic day in Trashigang is coordinated by the Bhutan Archery Federation (BAF) under Bhutan Olympic committee(BOC).

Lyonpo Kinzang Dorji, who is the president of the Bhutan Archery Federation, was the chief guest during the occasion.

The celebration began as early as 6’o clock in the morning with the Olympic day run with 5kms and 3kms for the men and women runners respectively.

After the run, all the guests and the invitees with the chief guest were gathered at the Trashigang MSS ground to witness the program. The day began with the traditional Marchang ceremony, followed by the reading of the Olympic day message from HRH Gyaltshab and IOC president.

The participants and the other sports enthusiastic dispersed for the sports programs that happened simultaneously at different locations. The games like archery, badminton, basketball, table tennis, Taekwondo, volley ball and other indigenous games were organized.

The event for the day ended with the prize distribution by the chief guest for the Olympic day runners and the certificates for the participants.
